Winter Quilt Retreat

There is always a bit of nervousness when I'm asked to teach in a new place or present a trunk show.  The never-ending questions of, "do they really want to see my quilts", "will they be disappointed", "will they sneak out when I'm not looking"?  In spite of my doubts, quilts were gathered, patterns were copied, kits were made, threads and wool were ordered, and the car was tightly packed for the trip to the Winter Quilt Retreat at Ruby's Inn, Bryce Canyon, Utah.

I have heard about this retreat for many years and always wished I could go.  Imagine how excited, and nervous, I was last year when Bonnie Miles, the organizer of this retreat was in one of my classes.  I thought, "maybe if she likes this class, she will invite me to her retreat".  When I received Bonnie's invitation a few months ago, I was almost giddy.  This retreat is a BIG deal!  Classes are held in the morning, afternoon, and evening, with show & tell and trunk shows twice each day.  Their were several vendors just in case we "needed" some fabric or supplies, and meals were served promptly to hundreds of hungry women.

On Wednesday I taught the Blossom Sewing Tuck and you can see we are very busy stitching. I forgot to take photos in the City and Country Bucket class  but remembered in my Day Tripper class when we were working on the foundation for the front flap.

As always, it was fun to meet new stitching friends.  It's just amazing how quilting can bring us together and teach us what common paths we travel.  This was a special time for me and I'm just hoping to attend next year.

  1. Looks warm in so many ways!

  2. What a great succes for you!!!!

  3. I'd like to attend that event myself someday - I've always heard really good things about it. Glad you had a great time!

  4. I wasn't lucky enough to get one of your classes...but your trunk show was amazing! My sister-in-law and her friend both bought some wonderful bright wool from you...wondering if you have any extra...I looked in your Etsy shop and didn't see any.
